Come along with our longtime muse @fakander as she wanders the streets of the city of love. We've collated her recommendations for time best spent in Paris below...including where to find the best Matcha & vintage shopping!
What are your packing essentials?
I travel with a little child so my essentials have given way for his essentials - my carry-on bag is filled with snacks, toys and diapers these days!
What is your favourite cafe in Paris?
I fall in love with every cafe I go to! Just please skip the ones with the fake flowers outside, they might look beautiful but they are tourist traps and usually not great cafes and restaurants! There are a lot of new good matcha spots in Paris in the last few years if you're a matcha fan like me, I love Umami cafe, they have a few locations!
Do you have any favourite galleries in Paris?
I love Musee Rodin! The gardens in front of it are so stunning too. This summer the best installation has been at the Bourse de Commerce as they turned the floor into a mirror!
Any secret spots for vintage shopping?
Marais has all the best vintage shopping in Paris in my opinion! And there are quite a few so you'll definitely find somewhere that has what you are looking for.
What's your best travel tip for someone heading to France?
Learn a few simple phrases in French, it goes a long way and I find it to make a big difference to many Parisians!
Any tips for mum's travelling with little ones?
Let go of your expectations and think you can have the same kind of trip you might have had before you became a mother. We start our days on playgrounds (there are soo many good playgrounds in Paris!) and end our days with very early dinners before many restaurants have even opened up!
