New years resolutions... we all make them (well most of us) and, well, most of us also fail within a couple of weeks.
With NYE slowly becoming a sparkler-studded memory, we've called on two of our gorgeous friends to give us some tips on the 2017 follow-through (because setting intentions is actually the easy part).
Who better to help us out than two humans who live and breathe a healthy lifestyle - Mel & Romana, the Co-Owners and creators of The Wildmuesli. Get to know them below!

Firstly, let's talk NY's resolutions:
(MEL)
To dance more often, not only on a dance floor.
To avoid to-do lists on weekends.
To complete an Integrative Nutrition Course (yay!)
(ROMANA)
To be more present and not get pulled into my head, which is an ever crazy world of activated buckwheat + inca berries.
To go on more road trips. I want to see more of Australia and would love to pack up my boy + my dog and do it that way. We have decided to start saving for a proper road trip, about a month or so long (haha, this is the first Mel has heard about this :)), get a great camper van and off we go. That will probably have to be in Jan 2018 truthfully but I need to organise this year, and would we will do mini weekend ones until then.
To be more sun smart. My mum will be so proud if she reads this. I LOVE the sun, but I’m finally now understanding that too much of it doesn’t love me. Don’t get me wrong I’ll still be beaching it, just putting sunscreen on instead of tanning oil, a wide brimmed hat + maybe a little shade tent for when I’ve had enough.

You two are best friends and business partners… how did you meet?
(MEL)  Online - through a dating site. Kidding. Through mutual friends - they would tell me that I reminded them of their friend Romana…. so I was curious about my doppelgänger  And safe to say she’s become the sister I always wanted. We always get asked if we’re sisters... and we've been known to say YES.
(ROMANA) It’s true, but we’re lucky we don’t fight like sisters. Not even when we travelled the world together for 6 months. Not one fight. I don’t know many business partners that work together all year round and still go away with each other at the end of the year. The only struggle here is not talking about work while on holiday…

Describe an average day in the office;
(MEL) My day always starts on my couch, sipping on a choc matcha latte and looking through social feeds and emails before I move to my desk... Working from home has its benefits. :)
But on days that I’m out at our factory I’m usually dusting myself in sweet smelling superfoods while blending, before I move over to packing - usually with a bunch of my favourite people to get the job done with a little too much laughter along the way. And music - there’s always music on while we’re in production.
(ROMANA) My day also starts on the couch with a big cuddle for my pooch. I also then move to my desk where I have my coconut mylk coffee, read my emails + go over the days never ending to do list. Then I go walk my dog, I feel like it really sets me up for the day ahead and gets my head in a good clear space. I’m generally out on the road, in and out of cafe’s seeing customers or taking prospective customers through the products. I’m either doing that at home in Melbourne on my own or with our distributors in other states. We’re quite lucky, I have to say, we have some incredible customers both in the cafe world and our amazing distributors. One of the perks about working for yourself is you get to choose who you work with.

Any tips for readers wanting to stick to their NYs resolutions this year;
(MEL) First up don’t make the same unrealistic resolutions that you made last year. Or instead of making any NY’s resolutions this year just focus on being a kinder version of yourself. Making small changes everyday, like laughing and smiling more often, and surrounding yourself with people and things that inspire you. If you do this you won’t have to try hard to become the best version of yourself - you will own it a little more everyday.

What’s in store for The Wild in 2017?
(ROMANA) Wow 2017. This will be a big year for The Wild. We’re just establishing ourselves as a national cereal manufacturer across both the food service + retail channels. We’ve got Melbourne covered, so now we have to do the same thing across the rest of Australia. Should be easy right? Once we can take our feet off the gas with regard to that, Mel and I can get back to doing what we love... being creative and playing in the product development space. We’ve got a few ideas in the pipeline but nothing we can share at this point…
(MEL) I'll focus on setting some things up so I can join Romana on that 4 week Road Trip Downunder.

We're giving away two months supply of The Wild Muesli, an Auguste Dress of the winner's choice AND a copy of The Wellness Book Victoria

To enter, tell us your NYE resolution and how you're going to make sure you see it through in the comments below. Our favourite, most inventive entry will win!

The competition closes 11:59pm January 20 Byron Bay Time

SARAH’S POST: JANUARY 16 2017

I’m not normally one for resolutions, but this year I actually sat down and wrote out some goals. The one that I want to achieve the most is to develop my charity, The Feline Foundation. We are a small volunteer run non-profit that is 100% for the cause and our main focus is on big cat conservation in Africa. We hold a couple of small fundraisers throughout the year but this year is the year for us to go big and bring in some real funds! Shortly after setting this goal I heard the news that there are only 7,100 cheetah left in Africa – this is pushing me even more to do something to help stop their rapid decline and this fact alone is all the motivation I need. We cannot let this amazing cat disappear. And we wont.

Happy New Year everyone!

I go to college since 2010, and as far as I know, I never studied something that really passionated me. I just had 3 diplomas (yeah, 3) : 3 masters of engineering, to cure me of my fear to be jobless one day. Now that I feel secure, I feel like I’m not motivated, because I do not like what I do. And the more I work as an engineer, the more I hate this job! My resolution for this year is to prepare my future (I will have my 3rd diploma in dec 2017) in order to ensure that from 2018 I will do what I really love : work in the fashion industry. This is my only passion in life, and work in something I love for the first time of my life would make me happier than anyone else on earth. I need to decrease my fear of insecurity and live a little, do what I love and stop organizing my life! Everyone needs to do what he loves <3

My New Year’s resolution is to allow myself the time and space to follow my creativity, specifically to spend more time painting, writing and making music. I’m self-employed so the email riptide is strong! But it’s been throwing me off-balance so I’ve started this year by completely clearing out our storeroom (read: junk room) and turning it into a creative haven. I bought a desk and I’ve placed pictures on the walls of things which inspire me, and have my paints and brushes set out; tempting me every day (I’m close but not quite there yet!). Fun side note: The Auguste ‘Today will be beautiful’ affirmation card from my recent purchase is at the very top of my ‘inspiration triangle’! It’s at eye-level, front and centre when I sit in my new space — thank you! :)

I’m from the states, so I’m not sure I can win this, but my main goal is to put myself out there more – if I think of something I want to say or do, then do it… this post for instance, I would normally NEVER do. I have become so afraid of judgment that I’ve stopped just being myself – I carefully watch what I say and do, and often just don’t say or do anything out of fear of judgment. I heard a story on NPR recently that stuck with me, about how there are two types of people: those whose brains are wired toward negativity and pessimism, and those whose brains are wired toward positivity and optimism. Being 27 years old, I’m not sure how it took me so long to realize that my brain has slowly been molded into the former over the years, and that that’s usually what keeps me from simply being myself, and reaching my full potential. Luckily, the other part of the NPR story on this was that you can change the way your brain is wired, so I am going to work on that.

My other goal is more simple: less consumption, and consume responsibly. I already do things like carry around a water bottle, bring my lunch to work, compost and recycle, etc, but Auguste has inspired me to also shop responsibly. For me, that begins with buying less stuff, period. And then, only buying from shops who produce and ship responsibly.

In 2017, I hope to live and shop more responsibly, and to think, speak, and act, and more importantly live, love, and laugh freely and with reckless abandon! Peace, love and happiness to you all in 2017, and good luck on your goals!! <3 Rita

My goal for 2017 is to get out of debt. I’ll start by paying off my credit card, spending less and savibg for the stuff that I want to buy (Yes,Auguste Willow Day Dress) To avoid temptation, I’ve handed over my credit card to my boyfriend and instructed him to hide it where I won’t be able to find it. (Yes, cruel but necessary)

Simplicity. My NY resolution is to disconnect from all things social media/technology more. Spend more time outdoors in nature. Embrace my flaws. Adopt a healthier lifestyle, and hopefully start a little family with my hubs! :)

This year, my focus will be to slow down…travel somewhere..stop and smell the air, appreciate the smell of the rain before a big storm. Life is made for living, there is no point in rushing. Nice and simple :)

This year is going to be big one for me! Having just graduated I’ll be starting my new job over the other side of the country and have made the resolution to surround myself with people who simply by being themselves, make me want to be a better person. Whether it’s in person, on the phone, via Skype or Facebook I hope to remain in contact with all the wonderful people I’ve met over the last four years of uni as well as my lovely friends and family I’ve grown up with. I hope to find balance between the new and the old as I start this adventure xx

My resolutions usually last all of a day before they are broken and forgotten. This year I’m making sure I stick to it…I’m going to learn to love me and put me first occasionally!! Healthy eating, exercise and using the weekends to go on adventures to find waterfalls, bushwalk, camp and do things that I always want to do but never make the time for. 2017 is saying Yes! to life :)

My new year’s resolution is to have atleast two meat free days a week and switch to cruelty free hair and skincare (including makeup). I dont know what took me so long to make these changes, as they are so important to me. I am going to make sure I stick to this with the support of my friends and family. All us girlfriends are now looking into cruelty free products and keep each other in the loop and encourage and remind each other to stay on track, as we do sometimes miss the products we have used and loved for so long. The meat free days require a bit of planning when grocery shopping, but I am always on the look out for more yummy and healthy vegetarian recipes. I definitely feel that telling your family and friends about your goals helps a lot, because they want to see me stick to them and they do everything they can to accommodate me.

My NYR are pretty simple cause I don’t like to make them to hard for myself.
1:Stop making lists
4:Be more consistent
2:learn to count
No but seriously, my only NY resolution for 2017 is to be a better mum and wifey than I was last year. Leave my phone at home while I take the kids to the park or the beach. Just spend more time with my husband and kids cause you never know when you’re gonna be called to leave this earth and I want to make sure I was the best parent and wifey that I could of been.

NY resolution comes from Sir David Attenborough “It’s surely our responsibility to do everything within our power to create a planet that provides a home not just for us, but for all life on Earth.” Applying this statement in what I can do to reduce my footprint on this Earth in aspects such as what I buy and who from. Does the company have the same values as me and also trying to reduce their impact on nature.

My new years resolution is to be “more.” To dance more, smile more, laugh more, sleep more, read more, meditate more, cuddle my babies more, love my husband more, apply sunscreen more, work more, travel more, live more, love more and stress less. To do this I have four simple things I’ll do eat day… 1. Practise gratitude. 2. Affirm my beliefs. 3. Meditate. 4. Do some act of self love/nurturance. I’m on day 16 and haven’t skipped a beat. Life is gorgeous!

I didn’t make a New Years resolution. I didn’t even ring in the new year because I was in bed by 8.30. For a 21 year old it surprises me too. But my goal for this year is to write in a book each day, making myself aware of what happened in the day, how I reacted and responded to things, thoughts, feelings. And bit by bit I want to improve my flaws, whether it be being too shy to meet people or teaching myself to listen and respond instead of waiting for my turn to say something about myself or something completely irrelevant. This year I want to take my mum to a place she’s always wanted to go. So my other goal is to buckle down, work hard and save. Even though I just bought a bunch of blouses from you guys. No regrets.

My New Years resolution is to stop looking outside myself, be gentle and kind to myself, nourish myself from the inside out spiritually, mentally and physically to be not only a positive role model for my daughter but also for myself.

How am I going to do this? Reminding myself that I’m doing the best I can, incorporating my family into my fitness so we can all have fun together, taking more time to meditate, be in the present moment and the biggie give gratitude everyday for the blessings I have in my life and the people who enrich it a grateful heart = happy life. Oh and also having my alarm each day playing a booty busting jam to get me popping on my New Years reso’s each day ;) xx

Simply put, in 2017 I intend to get more out of life. This means healthier habits to give me the energy & well being to go after my goals with gusto; commitment, perseverance & pragmatism to make big dreams happen; and, finally, my best efforts to achieve inner peace & harmony with others so as not to waste precious time and energy on conflict, fears or doubts.

This year my resolution is too be mindful of my words, it’s often not what is said but how it is said. So in all my relationships and encounters with strangers my aim to speak words of kindness and honesty in soft and calm tones.
My 2nd resolution is to feed and nourish my body, eat plenty of things the earth has got for us and plenty of balance of vegetables, fruit, dairy and protein.

For 2017 rather than making a list of New Years resolutions that are too specific with an unrealistic timeline, I have chosen one word that encapsulates everything I want to achieve this year and that is growth. Growth in my self esteem and confidence, growth in my abilities as a nurse, growth in my relatiinships as a daughter, sister and friend, growth in my beliefs and lastly growth in my muscles and booty ? xxx

My New Years reso is to make sure I don’t give up on something until I’ve tried everything in my power to make it work. Too often do I give up on a project, a job, a friendship when it stops running as smoothly or making me as happy as it used to. If things still aren’t working after I’ve given it my every effort, then I’ll know it’s not meant to happen and I’ll let it go. But I’m not going to bail at the first sign of difficulty anymore – I’m going to stick around and see things through! X

HAPPY NEW YEAR BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!! My incredibly unique and unheard of resolutions are to a) spend less time sitting on my bum studying and taking more frequent breaks, running marathons, climbing Mt. Everest, etc. and b) to be more gentle to every single human being I meet because they could be going through their worst day and I think it makes the world a better place if you’re pleasant to everyone. If I can make at least 5 people crack a smile each day then I’d consider that resolution met! P.S What a fantastic giveaway!! xx

I make a lot of resolutions every year, from small to big things. The most important resolution is to get back to being more authentic, make people smile every day, write every day and also dance a lot (actually it’s to include dancing into my meditation practice).
Other goals are…
I’m finishing up an evening school and I plan to finish it with high grades. I bought an ukulele for Christmas and I want to teach myself a little and jam and sing more with my friends.
I’ve also lined up a trip to Hawaii on which I will be alone for 3 weeks and I hope I’m brave enough to travel alone, so far away from home (and also, to survive with my savings haha).

Apart from that I continue on my resolutions from last year. Eat as little meat as possible. Shop as ethical as I can, as much as I can afford it (you can ask almost any shop how they make their things, if they don’t answer or don’t have it on their site there are probably better options).

Flex my Courage and Confidence muscle and build on knowing ‘I am Capable’. In order to do this, I am practicing self-love through moving my body, nourishing my body with good food and to set me up for the day I do a morning ritual which includes a ‘Body Boost’ (using essential oils with Jojoba oils on my body while saying positive affirmations out loud). My little 5 year old daughter also does this morning ritual with me which ensures I do it every single morning!! She loves it as much as I do.

In the most straight forward way my resolution is to understand my body, elevate my consciousness and heal. Something is not alright and I just want to fix it and make it burst into happiness and overflow it with vitality. I would love to thrive again into being outdoors, dancing for hours (I’m Latina), paint, be creative and energise others with my presence. I started last year with this transformation by doing a 10week detox (I will finish it next Monday!) and so far I have understood that eating right it’s a form of self-respect – I took that from The Wild! I will finally end this healing journey by learning Energy Medicine & Women’s Energy Medicine in Chile… I mean business ladies! ?

My New Years resolution this year may sound selfish but I’m hoping it’s going to be the best one I’ve ever made.
This year, I pledge to love myself more, be kinder to myself, not to jidge myself and allow myself time to be still so I can find my inner peace and calm. This is so I can work towards being a better version of myself. A happier more confident mum for my baby bear and a kinder more supportive wife to my husband.

Love your resolutions, ladies!
My resolution this year is to say yes to more by being smart and prepared with my time and money, be present in moments (similar to Romana I will focus on stepping out of work and leaving my work brain there), and to build my relationships! This means giving more time and energy to my friends, family, partner and of course taking the time to appreciate myself too. I realised this year that we miss many important moments with our loved ones due to work.. In the end we will remember what we missed, but we will never remember the reasons why we did! Best of luck with your resolutions ladies! ??

On New Years Eve, I realised that I’m a massive “dreamer”, and that “dreamers” are always dreaming but never get what they want. This year, I’m no longer a dreamer. This year, I’m just going to do the things I want. Ive spent my whole life dreaming about packing up and driving around Australia. No specific return date. Absolute wilderness. I want to look at sheer, snowy mountains in Tasmania and walk on flat, red dirt for miles in Northern Territory. I want to go weeks without seeing another human being. I want to completely lose myself in this country.

On the 1st of January, my partner and I listed our cars for sale. We’re sick of dreaming. We’re buying a van.

My New Years Resolution is to embrace my individuality. I’ve worked hard over the last year to eat healthy, workout daily, get into a Master’s program in medicine, and accept my flaws and my strengths. I’m a strong, intelligent, healthy and free woman and I want to show that to the world that I’m just that.
