Endangered orangutans are falling victim to forest fires started by Palm Oil companies and small land owners. The fires have left them malnourished, sick, traumatised and - of course - homeless. The staff at OUTROP's research station from Sabangau National Park are working round the clock to put out fires in the peat forests that are threatening the lives and homes of the orangutans.
Many of the fires are also very close to the orangutan Rescue Centres at BOS Samboja Lestari and BOS Nyaru Menteng.
Orangutan Outreachhave created an Emergency Fire Fund to support the efforts of BOS, IAR & OUTROP. Alongside local communities, these teams are fighting desperately to put out fires, as well as patrolling forests and peat swamps in remote areas of Borneo.
This is an issue that is very close to our hearts, so on Saturday 31st October, all of Auguste's Online profits will be donated to this Emergency Fund.
